Titik Papaya (Seafood and Papaya Soup)
150g almost-ripe papaya, peeled, seeded, 1/4 in pieces
375ml water
Spice paste:
2 shallots
1/2 garlic
1.5 candlenuts
1/2 red chilli
3/8 tsp belacan
1/8 tsp ground white pepper
1/4 turmeric leaf
75g shrimps, shelled
1 x 0.8g sachet stevia or 2 1/4 tsp sugar
3/8 tsp salt
- Saute the spice paste until fragrant.
- Add the water and papaya and bring to a boil.
- Simmer for 8 mins before adding the turmeric leaf.
- Simmer for another minute and stir in the shrimps and seasoning.
- Cook until shrimps are done and papaya is tender.
- Serve with sambal belacan (spicy shrimp paste).
